Success For First Time Tournament Players

Once again we were indebted to Gauteng East for organizing a day tournament and we could “blood” some of our younger players into competitive play. We entered six new players and two young promising girls who we felt needed more competitive play.

I am delighted to say that Nokuthla Madoda and Aphiwe Gumbi won their section in the orange group to crown a very successful morning play. On the red court Goitse Lehihi finished second and Ziyanda Silinga 3rd.

Those were very credible results for players who have not experienced playing away from Vosloorus before and against players that they were far from familiar with.

Njabulo Rarane and Ledile Monama gained a lot of experience and although they finished further down in their group, the opportunity given to them must be repeated so they become accustomed to playing at a better level.

Our two more experienced players Siya Silinga and Banele Xolo were a shade disappointing but playing in a tougher group than they are used too were made to understand that more work is needed to progress. The quality is there, it just has be nurtured.

Overall a hugely successful morning and all players wore their medals with pride after the day was over.
