At the recent Annual General Meeting if the IC SA, Mike Dunk stepped down as chairman after what he described as “six very fulfilling years especially seeing the advance and improvement of the Vosloorus development program.”

Duard Botha was elected as the new chairman, and he is someone who brings a wealth of tennis knowledge to the job. He has represented South Africa at eight World Championships playing on all surfaces from the grass in Perth, the clay both red and green (Miami and Lisbon) and the hard courts in Helsinki.

He has twice won the bronze medal in mens doubles firstly in Turkey and then Mexico City.

Her was also a member of the SA team that played in Christchurch, New Zealand when, sadly, the event had to be cancelled due to the massive earthquake.

He has represented his province. Gauteng Central at inter provincial tournaments for a number of years and is a stalwart member of Marks Park Tennis Club one of, if not, the biggest club in Johannesburg.

He was a banker and worked for Standard Bank for most of his working life and now enjoys retirement with lots of tennis.

He joined the IC SA committee six years ago so is well versed in the running of the club.

As outgoing chairman Mike Dunk said “I have been in the chair for a long time, and it is time for new thinking and a fresh approach and in Duard I believe we have the ideal person to take the club forward to that new level. I will still be involved with the Vosloorus development program for a further year.”
