December 2024 Great Year For Tshepang Moname We were approached earlier in the year to assist with funding the scholarship given to Tshepang by Balderstone Sports Institute. The Institute was originally started as a golf academy but late 2023 they branched out into tennis with Helen Barrett, also a member of IC SA, in charge. Helen comes from a long list of achievements in the game at both Provincial level and tournament play throughout South Africa in her time. An ideal person to run the tennis arm of the Institute. During the academic side of things, they study the Cambridge syllabus for GCSE. Helen approached us to assist with funding for Tshepang early in the year and we agreed to assist as we knew he had potential to take his game much further. Tshepang embraced the program there wholeheartedly and his tennis went from strength to strength. He featured well in local tournaments and was selected to represent Gauteng East at the inter provincial to be held in January 2025. According to Helen “he is a committed and dedicated player and student.” He ended the year with being awarded the Institute Player of the Year as well as being awarded the trophy for the Most Improved Player in the under 19 age group at the provincial squad training which along with four other Vosloorus players, he attended on a weekly basis. We congratulate Tshepang on both these awards and it underlines our decision to assist him with his studies and training at the Institute. It really has been money well spent.
